“Many thanks for inviting us to this event. My pupils, all my guests and I loved the show! It was brilliant and a high standard! It was not only for celebrating Chinese New Year, but it also had such a positive impact on promoting Mandarin in schools. The word spreadquickly within my school. I think many pupils regret that they didn’t get to see the show.We would be delighted if there are any similar events like this in the future and very grateful for your invitation again.” Jenny Chang, Mandarin teacher, Bannerman High School, Glasgow
“Thank you for the invite to the show. We had a fabulous time. My son, who has only turned 5, thoroughly enjoyed it. It is the first time he has been to a theatre and he was enthralled by the whole event.”Lesley Drever, HT, Woodlands Primary School, Irvine
“The show was a great success. We had a good time especially my boy aged 4 liked the songs very much. We also met a lot of friends there. Actually I felt quite surprised to see so many Chinese people living in Glasgow. CISS plays an important role in the Chinese society. I would like to say thank you again and hope to attend more events organized by CISS in the future.”Le Chen, member of the public
“Firstly, thank you and your team for putting on this concert. I am personally thankful as you added me to your list after the deadline. I have two very happy girls who really enjoyed themselves and spent the start of the week telling their friends at school and re-distributing the programmes left behind by so many people. As this was our first time at a Chinese concert, it is hard to compare other than we all really enjoyed it.” Jit Singh, member of the public
“Hi, my family and I thought it was great. But also cute and lovely. Well done to the kids for travelling round the world. We loved the frog/rain dance the best.”Jacqui, Glenboig Toddlers Group
“I thoroughly enjoyed the performance. The children were outstanding and I was quite overwhelmed by their professionalism. From a planning perspective, there was a small issue about starting on time. There were a lot of children in the audience and some of them got pretty bored. The formal speeches were good but perhaps a little long.I enjoyed the input from Douglas Academy but wonder if next time an input from the ballet school students would be more appropriate. All in all a very successful and entertaining evening.”Anne Hawkins, member of the public
“I would like to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I attended with my wife and 2 young children and we all had a super time: music, dance, colours, songs, all was extremely enjoyable. And a wonderful experience for us to be immersed in a crowd with many bilingual children/couples around us! Many thanks again for inviting us to the show!”Richard Tallaron, Le Fran?ais en Ecosse
“Thank you for reserving us seats at this event. I greatly enjoyed the Nanjing Little Red Flower Troupe and thought it incredibly touching that they performed alongside Douglas Academy during what was a fantastic night. I express my definite support for the planning of similar events in the future.”Peter Reid, Tianjin Scholar
“My sister and I had a wonderful time at the Concert Hall last night. The troupe was fabulous and it was so interesting to see dance and music from another culture. Thank you for including Glasgow teachers.” Susan Ewington, Pollokshields Primary School, Glasgow
“I thought the concert was absolutely superb. I was really amazed at the skill and professionalism of the children. It certainly was outstanding and a great evening. I have told all my friends how impressed I was by the talent and discipline on display. I would certainly go and see them again given the opportunity. Including the excellent choir from Douglas Academy was a nice touch. Very well organised all round. Thank you very much for organising this event.”Vivien Reid, member of the public
“As a professional actress, director and broadcaster, I thought the show excellent with a high standard of talent.” Liz Kristiansen, member of the public
“This was a super event, very high quality, quite charming.” Nick Joint, Strathclyde University
“Thank you very much for having us, the performance was fantastic! It is amazing to see the young children offer such a high quality and very professional show, especially their ability to adapt local culture and art, I loved the joint singing of Auld Lang Syne with Douglas Academy, it is a perfect combination of Chinese and Scottish culture. I am delighted to see these little performers showcase the traditional Chinese culture and arts to the local community and beyond. You guys did a brilliant job, well done!”Duo Long, Glasgow University Confucius Institute
“Thanks for booking us for the Chinese New Year celebration concert. My friend and I enjoyed it thoroughly. All performances inclusive of dances, musical instruments and the two young stars announcing the acts were brilliant. I particularly enjoyed the butterfly dance.”Sunita, member of public
“I would not hesitate to recommend an evening with the Nanjing Little Red Troupe to anyone.”Margaret Houston, member of the public
“I am just sending a note to say how much I enjoyed the Chinese New Year Concert. I was amazed at the high standard of singing and dancing of the Nanjing Little Red Flower Troupe and their bright coloured costumes. It was a great concert enjoyed by all ages especially the very young sitting near me who were dancing and clapping their hands.” Graham Kennedy, member of public
“We all really enjoyed the event, the standard of performance was very high and the programme included a variety of both music and performance. We loved the 2 children who did the introductions especially the boy.We were fortunate to have a Chinese colleague sitting beside us who explained the stories, folk tales and themes of the various performances so this was helpful.2 areas for consideration
1. Probably out with your control however speeches were too long and inappropriate for the audience especially with so many children.
2. Maybe consider back drop information on the stage re themes or brief summary in the programme of the story for particular performances.
Overall an excellent evening so well done for all of the organisation.”Aileen Watson, member of public
